How to Upgrade from Free to Pro Plan
We’ve added the ability to migrate from the Free version of Smart Checklist (Forge) to the Pro version (Forge).
The process requires a few manual steps to ensure all your data is transferred correctly.

☝🏼 Important Notes
Backup first – Migration relies on a backup created in the Free app.
Backup can be created multiple times, but must be done before import data to the Pro app.
Ensure the Smart Checklist Free app has Browse Issues and Edit Issues permissions, as backup creation stores properties for issues, projects, and the Checklist Free app user.
Do not modify checklist data in the Free app after the backup is created. These changes will not be included, and the process will need to be repeated.
During migration, users will not be able to work with Smart Checklist Pro in issues where the import has not finished.
Steps to Upgrade
1. Create a Backup in the Free App
In the Free version, go to Global Settings.
Scroll to the Backup Data for Migration to Pro section.
Click Create Backup.
Wait until you see the confirmation message:
2. Install the Pro App
If Pro is not already installed, add Smart Checklist Pro from the Atlassian Marketplace.
3. Import Data from Free
In the Pro app, go to the Import Checklists tab.
Click Import in the Import from Smart Checklist Free section.
Wait for the process to complete.
☝🏻NOTE: The “Import from Smart Checklist Free” option is available only if the backup was created in the Free version of the app.
Migration Results and Troubleshooting
In most cases, you will see Success messages for all stages.
If you see warnings or errors, download the migration log and share it with our support team.
Final Step
At this point, you can compare the data in the Pro app with the data in the Free app to ensure everything has been migrated correctly. If the data matches, uninstall the Free app and continue working in Smart Checklist Pro 😎
